A triumphant year for the Sevenoaks shooting club , with seven members scoring 100 .
Over the past year , the Sevenoaks shooting club has had one of its most successful years . At the start of the year we dominated in the England schools match , with Barty Wardell coming in second , and Thalia Pettersson coming first overall . The two pair teams held both first and second , with our team of four winning overall . We then had similar results at the Winter Open , with Sara Makhmudova coming third overall and the team of four coming third overall . During Michaelmas term , the club had a trip to Bisley to practise fullbore for the summer competitions , although sadly these were cancelled . In our postal competitions we have also been successful , with many students within the club qualifying for the second round of the Eley Competition . We also won our shoulder-to-shoulder matches this year , as both our A and B teams won against Bede ’ s School A team . Similarly , we narrowly clinched victory over the University of Cambridge , with both Barty Wardell and Thalia Pettersson holding top scorer positions .
In the Summer term a number of students were chosen for the BSSRA International England schools team , with Barty Wardell and Thalia Pettersson given places in the A team , Sara Makhmudova and Mitika Agarwal chosen for the B team , and Yaroslav Bobko chosen for the C team , an improvement on last year . This year seven members of the club scored 100 , a perfect score , on at least one of their targets . This is exceptionally difficult to achieve , as the rifle barrel must vary by less than 1 / 120 of a degree . This year has been one of the best in the club ’ s history , with success across the board . Younger students have had a greater presence in the top teams than ever before , a sign this achievement is going to continue .
