Curling Golf
Sevenoaks curling gained 10 new recruits this year , and the club continues to go from strength to strength .
The progress of all players has been outstanding , with some splendid performances at the English Junior Open Championships in January , where we managed to enter three teams . Oscar Petter and Helena Kiggell also gained places in the Junior Elites ( England ) for the third year running . All new players also gained their yellow ECA skills award before the end of the season .
Highlight moments included Louis and Sebby both playing skip for the first time in a major tournament ; Phoebe ’ s double take-out in the final end of the second match ; Helena ’ s triple take-out in Bronze League ; and Oscar ’ s invitation to play with the England Junior Men ’ s team at the World Curling Federation ’ s Stepping Stones , Preston .
The U18 player of the season was Oscar Petter and the most improved player was Helena Kiggell . The U15A player of the season was Phoebe Critchlow and the most improved player was Louis Dunn . The U15B player of the season was Edward Brown and the most improved player was Sebby Kent .

Several victories despite the short season and a bright future ahead .

Like many sports in 2020 golf was greatly affected by Covid-19 , turning what would have been a 17-week season into a seven-week one ! Under the leadership of Alex Gibb and experience provided by Ben Spires , Casper Hoving and Laurin Stelter the team enjoyed a number of victories over schools such as St Bede ’ s and Lord Wandsworth , and produced a very creditable fourth place finish in the Smarden Bell championship . The run in the HMC Foursomes came to an end against a very strong Tonbridge team but our players , especially Kajsa Lenz and Alex Dobak , performed admirably against players who were , on paper , much stronger . With an enthusiastic and dedicated group of players going into the Upper Sixth and with the number of players further down the school increasing we look forward to the 2020-21 season with confidence .
