Sevenoaks continued to show their dominance on the Kent Tennis circuit, taking home the titles for the senior boys, inter boys, inter girls, junior boys and junior girls. The senior boys’ team of Oscar Brown, Anthony Dinh, Hugo Coquelin and Aidan Durant continued to impress, bringing home the U18 Youll Shield from the ISTA championships, a useful warm-up for the national championships. Two weeks into the summer holidays, the senior boys travelled to Nottingham to represent the school at the national finals, having beaten Bede’s and King’s Canterbury in the regional rounds. This was the first time the boys had qualified for the finals since 2015. The young quartet of Lower Sixth captain Oscar Brown and his three Year 9 teammates Hugo Coquelin, Aidan Durant and Michael Smirnov had an excellent week. They represented the school admirably, winning two out of four matches; everyone contributing with wins. Day one saw Sevenoaks lose 5-1 to second seeds Millfield; day two saw them lose in a nail-biting close-fought battle against Repton; days three and four the boys won comfortably versus Rugby and Wycliffe College. A special mention to Oscar Brown, who marshalled his young troops well and won all four singles. Charlotte Smith SEVENOAKS SCHOOL 2018-2019 93
