A bumper year for junior,
inter and senior titles, with
unbeaten seasons for four
teams and an all-Sevenoaks
Kent Doubles final.
After a successful summer, the junior (Years 7 and
8) boys’ national cup team of Hugo Coquelin, Aidan
Durant, Michael Smirnov and Fred Ivey continued
their run of success from last year by beating Reed’s
comfortably in the regional round. This took them
through to the regional finals in November, where
they performed well despite missing no 1 Hugo, who
was representing GB at a Tennis Europe tournament,
and no 2 Aidan. Young Kobi Smith and Tim Pastron
stepped in and stepped up to beat Richard Hale
School, but unfortunately they then fell victim to
a strong Culford side and lost out on a place at the
national finals.
Also in the Michaelmas term the girls, boys and mixed
senior teams embarked upon their journey in the
national senior students cup. The girls and the mixed
teams made it to regional finals, but the boys went
one step further and qualified for the national finals
in March. The foursome of Anthony Dinh, Jai Sahni,
Ram Capoor and David Vaccari put in some excellent
performances over the two days to finish second
overall, losing to Magdalen College in the final.
Fast-forward to the Summer term and we kicked off
with some superb performances at the Kent Schools
Doubles. Fred Ivey and Kobi Smith were victorious
in the junior boys competition while Hugo Coquelin
and Michael Smirnov were winners of the inter boys
competition. Not to be outdone, the junior girls made
sure it was an all-Sevenoaks final, with Serena Manca
and Madeleine Brown beating Annabel Nuijens and
Allegra Cuomo.
