S wimming Swimming at Sevenoaks continues to improve year on year, with outstanding individual and team results across home, county and national level galas. The first major event of the season was the Kent Schools’ Relays held in Margate, a regional qualifier for the ESSA national team championships. The team secured two golds, four silvers and three bronze medals across three age groups for boys and girls. We qualified an amazing nine teams from 12 to the national finals which were taken from the fastest 30 teams for each age group qualifying from over 200 schools. The ESSA championships took place at the Aquatics Centre in Stratford. We took 20 swimmers across our nine teams. They succeeded in reaching three finals on the day, and achieved three seventh places, with all teams swimming faster in the finals than the time they qualified with. In January the Kent Schools Individual Championships were held in Margate. The boys came away with two golds, one silver and four bronze medals. Louis Hayes (Year 10) was fastest across all age groups with his two gold medals. The girls achieved two gold, two silver and two bronze medals, with Kara Dimond (Year 9) the fastest swimmer across all age groups with her gold medal. The boys’ team also retained the Kent Cup for points scored in the competition, with the girls coming fourth against stiff competition. From top: Senior Boys, inter Boys, junior Boys. 90 SPORT REVIEW
