The Model UN program involves students’ learning about current and past world issues( political, social, environmental, economic), finding out about various countries’ foreign policies, and learning the United Nations rules and procedures, including how to conduct research and create position papers( a statement that outlines a country’ s position on a particular issue). With the help of a coach, the girls learn how to debate their points, think quickly so that they can respond to others’ points, and- perhaps most importantly- how to collaborate with others to achieve consensus. We attend up to four conferences on weekends throughout the school year. While attendance at these conferences is optional, students are encouraged to attend at least one external conference. Additional costs apply for each conference attended.

Peer Support is a collaborative initiative between Personal Counsellors and other support staff, the Health and Wellness Prefect and trained senior school students which aims to build community through peer support. Trained senior school students, known as Peer Supporters, offer their classmates a chance to be seen and heard, in turn creating a school culture where we take care of one another.
The mission of Peer Support is to create a safe and supportive place for all CHS students to talk about their concerns, challenges, and experiences. Trained Peer Supporters actively listen without judgement. The goal is for peers to empower each other to develop their own coping strategies and make informed decisions, while also providing appropriate resources and referrals when needed.

The Grade 8-9 production is held at the end of November. Auditions are held in the fall and are open to all students in Grade 8-9. Effort is made to include every girl who is interested in some aspect of the production, whether it be onstage in a role or off-stage in a supporting position. Rehearsals are after school and over two weekends closer to production time. Productions will take place in the black box theatre.
