MUSIC & THE WORLD OF WORK
Employment prospects:
You can choose to work in a range of professions inside and outside music. If you
choose to follow a music career, you may have to take on several roles with
different employers and work on both a freelance and contract basis. For
example, you could combine teaching with freelance performance work, as well
as doing contract/session work on different projects.
Is it for me? You will enjoy this subject if:
You enjoy playing musical instruments/singing.
You are creative and enjoy creating your own music.
You like to work individually and as part of a team.
You are interested in how music impacts and has
impacted upon society.
What will I learn? You will develop skills and knowledge in:
2 instruments (or one instrument and voice)
Creating original music using technology
Analysis and evaluation of your own work and the
work of others.
Transferable skills such as: communication skills, self-
discipline, fine motor skills, team work, self-confidence
What can I do with it?
Further education routes at NC, HNC, HND and
degree level
