ICYMI In Case You Missed It! Ian Beckles - That 80’s Party Parachute pants, fluorescent hats, break dancin’ duos oh my! Who says you can’t travel back in time? We “got into the groove” and took a fun-filled trip back to the 80’s for “That 80’s Party” to support the launch of the Ian Beckles Foundation at the Hard Rock Cafe Tampa on Thursday, September 3rd . The Hard Rock Cafe was transformed into a disco lounge, complete with an LED dance floor, leather couches, dueling DJ’s, video games, and 80’s decor galore. Oh what a celebration it was! And the best part? All of the proceeds benefit the Ian Beckles Foundation and its’ mission to help children in the Tampa Bay area. Great 80’s Costumes at the Ian Beckles Party Rowdies 40th Anniversary The Tampa Bay Rowdies took the field Labor Day Weekend, ready for a 40th Anniversary victory against the 1st place New York Cosmos. Congrats to the Tampa Bay Rowdies for 40 years of soccer in Tampa Bay and for shutting out the Cosmos 2-0 and bringing home the win! The casino kicked off the anniversary celebration with a Friday night Happy Hour at the Rowdies Den in Downtown St. Pete. The celebration continued Saturday with a “Mardi Gras Style” VIP Tailgate Party at Al Lang Stadium. What’s a party without music? Especially if it’s music by Travis Williams, an artist that was discovered during the casino’s Tampa Bay Acoustic Music Festival this past June. In Tampa’s own version of American Idol, eleven talented artists performed in front of three esteemed judges but only one could win the coveted prize package. Taking the stage last, 16 year old Hillsborough High School student Francesca Giorgianni captivated the judges with her performance of her favorite song, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. As the walk on contestant and last to perform, Giorgianni thought she was at a disadvantage but once she took the stage she overcame her nerves and stunned the judges with her performance of this familiar but extremely difficult song. With nerves at an all-time high, the contestants gathered on stage to hear the final results. It was a tough decision for the judges but in the end, Eden Shireen and Ari Chi tied for third place, Sarah Morey placed second and Francesca Giorgianni was crowned the winner and walked away with $2,500 in cash and $1,000 in music gear from Paragon Music.
