PRESENTATION TEXT
have always been interested in questioning dogmas of language and
betting on films that subvert patterns, take risks and try new ways.
We are also interested in the experience of cinema, the exhibition
of these films in the traditional cinema room, on the big screen,
with the powerful sound, in collective sessions, always followed by
conversations, in a time when the couch cinephilia reigns more and
more.
The very continuity of the festival is an act of resistance. This edition
was put together with 80 thousand Brazilian reais of funds, made
possible by the sponsorship of Rio Filme, through a public open call.
The value is approximately half of previous years, when we also have
other sponsorships. Fortunately we have a team of warriors and a huge
number of collaborators who are fundamental to make the Semana
Film Festival feasible in the best possible way.
We thank Rio Filme / City Hall of Rio de Janeiro and SEC-RJ, all of our
collaborators and partners and those who have shared their films with
us. We also wish to thank the 20 members of the selection committee,
who have dedicated themselves to the careful visualization of all the
submissions, Clara Moreira, who always excels herself in the creation
of our art, the artists who presented us with this year's vignettes, the
curators Patricia Mourão and Victor Guimarães, who have conceived
and produced two very sensitive programs and Lis Kogan, who have
taken care of the Semana with much Zeal and now collaborates so that
the birds continue flying.
We invite everyone to follow our programming, immersing theirselves
in an intense week of movies and exchanges!
