Paul ’ s discount has always been known for its clothing and boot department , which contains a big selection of both men and women ’ s outdoor sporting and work apparel for any need .
But unlike the big-box stores where employees working a section might or might not be familiar with the items in that aisle , Paul ’ s has managers and employees who work in one specific area of the store so their knowledge of their inventory is unsurpassed .
And nowhere in the store is that more evident than in Paul ’ s Discount ’ s extensive hardware department , which has been a customer favorite since the store ’ s beginning .
Paul ’ s is the only place in town to go if you need one specific bolt or screw where you can purchase the amount you need and not have to buy an entire package .
And with 39 years of service in the hardware department , Rutherford knows his inventory inside out because he ’ s the one who stocks it all .
“ Recently we had a Facebook commenter who said they had been to several local retailers and a big-box chain store looking for a specific part they needed and couldn ’ t find it . But they said came to us and they found the exact piece they wanted for half the price they had found it online for ,” Michael said . “ We carry specialty items that are hard to find and the credit for that goes to Tommy because he is incredible at keeping things in stock that people might need and can ’ t find elsewhere , and at a cheaper price .”
After getting a lot of feedback from the community shortly after acquiring Paul ’ s Discount , the Keck ’ s decided to bring back a customer favorite , the fabric department .
“ For a long time , Paul ’ s had a large fabric department so after we bought it we heard from a lot of ladies asking if we were going to bring back the fabric department ,” Michael said . “ So to Brooke ’ s credit , one of the first things we decided to do was to bring it back and it has been a very popular decision .”
