Local sisters bring Lakeside Primary Care to Burnside

By Christen Gibson CJ Correspondent
Thuresa Cash and Alisha Cooley are sisters from McCreary County and Nurse Practitioners who started Lakeside Primary Care , the only rural clinic in Burnside , Ky ., in 2019 . The two of them share nearly 50 years of experience in the medical field .
The sisters pour out southern hospitality to each patient who walks through their doors .
“ We try to treat all of our patients like family , and we try to treat people the way we want to be treated ,” Cooley said .
One of their patients , Missy Waters , feels like family to Cash and Cooley and those who work for them . “ They make you feel very welcomed . It seems like they are glad to see you . They make you feel comfortable , like you can be yourself . You don ’ t have to be scared and dread going to the doctor . It ’ s always a blessing to be seen by them .”
The sisters not only give love and care to their patients , but they also receive it too . The evidence of this is displayed in the hallway of the clinic outside the examination rooms .
