psoriasis can most often be found on the outer elbows , the front of knees , on the scalp , on or in the belly button and around the upper crack of the buttocks . It creates lesions that are usually thick pinkish or reddish and can grow to more than an inch in size and be covered with a silvery scale . Small round spot psoriasis can create small lesions , sometimes as small as a quarter of an inch but often erupts into multiple lesions and according to Braun , most often occurs after an episode of strep throat .
It is best that psoriasis , no matter which kind , be treated quickly to prevent lasting health issues .
“ Simply check your child when you would otherwise check him or her – namely at bathing times or when brushing hair ,” Braun said , encouraging parents to be vigilant about checking their child for skin conditions .
Braun has been practicing dermatology in Somerset for three and a half years as a physician with Dermatology Associates of Kentucky . Braun grew up in Somerset and attended the University of Kentucky for his undergrad diploma . He was encouraged by his father to consider becoming a medical doctor .
“ I trusted his judgement and later found that it really was a fitting pursuit for my vocation ,” Braun said . “ In med school , I had the chance to spend time with a dermatologist and absolutely loved the specialty .”
