DE Jeremiah Attaochu: Attaochu not only finished the regular season with 12 sacks,
but he had 10 of those 12 in the final five games of the regular season. Ole Miss
quarterback Bo Wallace has been very good but has made costly turnovers when
pressured. If Attaochu can cause havoc in the backfield, the Rebels might make costly
turnovers.
QB Vad Lee: Lee has only produced 1,800 yards of offense
this season, but he is a playmaker who can make things
happen with his arm or his feet. Lee accounted for 18 total
touchdowns and had his best game in the season finale
against Georgia. In that game, he threw for 232 yards,
rushed for 63 yards and scored four touchdowns. He also
had two interceptions. Turnovers have been his major
downfall this season.
OL Shaq Mason: Mason is the perfect fit for the Georgia Tech offense. He doesn’t
have ideal height for an offensive lineman, but he is one of the most athletic 300-pound
players in any conference. His quick feet and agility make him lethal in the Yellow
Jackets offense. If the All-ACC lineman is able to dominate Ole Miss, it will be a long
night for the Rebels.
RB David Sims: Despite being fifth in the NCAA in rushing with 3,740 yards (311.7
YPG), the Yellow Jackets do not have one player who has rushed for 1,000 yards.
David Sims, however, has been their leading rusher (846 yards). He has also been their
hottest as well, as he has rushed for 107, 94, 111 and 100 yards in four of their previous
five games. Sims will need to have a solid game if Georgia Tech is going to win this
one.
DB Jemea Thomas: Thomas is one of the most underrated players in college football.
He leads the team in tackles (73), solo tackles (62), pass break-ups (8) and is tied for
the team lead with two interceptions. If Thomas does not play well in the Music City
Bowl, the Yellow Jackets will not win. He is that important.
