There is a lot to be said for this local community comming together in support of such an amazing cause. All of the before mentioned bands blew the roof off of the Rock the Dock Pub and Grill and they did it without earning a penny. These local rock heros not only played for free but actually donated sales from CDs and T Shirts to help out the cause.
This community is no sranger to the struggles of our Service men and Women. Located right outside of JBLM., it has seen first hand the cause and effect of war. It only seems natural that these performers possess the selflessness that they do and it is only fitting that they are as popular musicians as they are.
This was a year of both old and new. For the 3rd straight year, the Brothers in Arms motocycle club sponsored a ride for the event raising over $2,000. The BIAMC is made up soley of veterans who have, themselves, served in one branch or another in the Armed Forces.
For the first time in 3 years a face was actually put to the cause. A moving, insirational speech was given by the founder of Life over Legs and mentor to those suffering from PTSD. Wesley spoke for about 30 minutes and touched the crowd with his personal story of healing. The two time purple heart awardee and double amputee stole the show.
On August 3th, 2013 Operation Ward 57 and Rock The Dock Pub & Grill threw down with the 3rd annual “Rock & Rally for the Troops” 2013 – a Fundraising event in Tacoma, WA. The event benefited wounded soldiers, their loved ones as well as those that aid in their recovery through the programs of Operation Ward 57, a non-profit that supports wounded warriors.
This annual event consisted of a Motorcycle Dice Run sponsored by Brothers In Arms MC. Following the Dice Run was an outdoor concert event featuring 5 local bands. Cody Beebe & the Crooks, High Noon Horizon, Ben Union, The Nixon Rodeo and Riot in Rhythm all donated their time and talent to support Operation Ward 57.
