in-town
In-town locations tend to consist of high streets and shopping malls for big chain brands as in-town locations have a big demographic and footfall due to many people living and working at in-town locations.
Examples of in-town shops are clothing chains such as Topshop and H&M, essential shops such as EE, small supermarkets such as Tesco express, cafes and restaurants and leisure activities such as the cinema and bowling alleys allowing customers to spend all day at an in-town location.
local
Villages or small towns usually have a high street, however this high street is very different to an in-town high street and tends to have shops such as small food shops, a post office and maybe a farm shop selling fresh produce. These kind of stores are either independant or part of a chain such as the co-operative and do not have a big footfall but have a good demographic as the people that live in these areas such as working families will make use of these facilities as they are convenient.
