Sea X Row (Interior Major Project) – Nkem Usiade | Page 14
Form Development
Using coloured paper I played around with different
construct within the empty void of the rowing
club. My first photo (left) focuses on a space
division and layers. The idea of having the spaced
broken up above and below. The next model (middle
and right) play with the idea of an extension.
An outdoor walkway of some sort that people
would use to transition between spaces. I feel
adding a walkway would relieve traffic indoors. As
the space is a wet activity I don’t want any issues of
health and safety in crossing through spaces.
Using oil pastels I coloured pieces of card and
layered them on top of each other. This was to help
me better understand the composition of colours
and how it could translate to materials. The yellow
is stone and blue is glass. I wanted a colour that
could ground the colours and be an accent. I found
black to be suitable, it could translate to steel.
I further explored this by transforming it to a 3d
model. The sketch model used inspired forms from
my previous model.
