hotspots aren't very cool
Although not nuclear, nature's "meltdown" of glaciers and icecaps are just as lasting and devastating as a radioactive disaster. Glacial melt is not only a sign of global warming, it's a direct result of climate change and the more ice that melts, the more climate change will be felt throughout the planet. Glaciers are one of the main reasons that the sea levels are increasing which is why it is important to find ways to protect them before they are all gone.

Nature is Having a Meltdown
By: Madison Lescohier
Humans and animals will suffer as a result of glacier melt. Polar bears are experiencing a fast decline as their icy habitat is being reduced to expanses of water where long swimming distances exhaust the bears to a drowning death-a poor chance at life that once was not the case (Kaplan). Humans suffer as well when their source of water from icemelt is lost quickly and added to the salty sea (Institut).
Glaciers are under serious heat worldwide. Specific places of concern include the Himalayas, Greenland, both the poles, Alaska, as well as Peruvian and Indonesian snows to name a few (Glick). This is concerning because if all of the Antartic were able to melt it would add 200 feet to the ocean's sea level, not taking the rest of the world's ice into account (Marshall)
