1 Tell us as born UNBIRTH ?
Unbirth was born in 2006 as a 3‐piece band doing some Aborted covers , then developed in a 5‐sickos band in 2008 pu ng out a split cd with Recreant ( grind band ) called Aspire to Deviance with 4 tracks from us . A er that we went into a lot of serious troubles ( including the death of our previous singer Babu ) which obviously put the band into a halt for more than a year . We decided anyway to come back in 2011 with a 3 tracks promo and a er a final change in the line up , we were able to record a complete full lenght last year , called Deracinated Celes al Oligarchy which came out in March under the flag of AVR rec .
2 Are you sa sfied with the produc on of AMPUTATED VEIN RECORDS did with the CD " CELESTIAL DERACINATED OLIGARCHY "?, How long it took to get the contract with the label AMPUTATED VEIN RECORDS ? And received offers from other labels ?
Yes on the produc on we are sa sfied with AVR and it didn ' t took too much , basically we sent out our recorded stuff via internet and we got some good responses from various labels interested in our works , in the end we just saw what we thought was best for us and we signed with AVR .
3 ‐ How things are going and the distribu on AMPUTATED VEIN RECORDS ?
Things are going good in general , doing a decent number of good gigs both in Italy and Europe ( not touring yet anyway ) and receiving a very good response from people addicted to brutal death and death metal in general . The distribu on is very good with AVR , we can be found through Code7 and Plas cHead distribu ons , obviously also trhough AVR store and our bigcartel ( h p :// unbirth . bigcartel . com ) and in a large number of distros / labels stores online .
4 ‐ They have received the answer they expected by fans and the press extreme " CELESTIAL DERACINATED oligarchy "?
Yes actually we were thinking this was a good effort that took us a lot of me so we thought this could have had poten ally a good feedback , and it did ! Both press and fans liked the album , and up to now we didn ' t received a single nega ve review / opinion about it !
5 ‐ Tell us how was the recording and mixing of the CD ?
We recorded every track ' s take at Mindcrime Studios with our friend Jorè Storchi with no hurry at all ( when we started recording we had yet to find a vocalist ) then with all put together we sent all stuff to death metal guru Saul Morabito at 16th Cellar Studios in Rome , he did a very great job and he ' s been very helpful in many occasion during the mixing and mastering !
6 ‐ What can you say about " ASPIRE TO DEVIANCE "?
That was our first effort in studio , well it wasn ' t actually a studio , it was a computer and some mics in a garage actually , but in the end we were sa sfied by it , I s ll like the songs on that split and we s ll play one or two songs taken from it on lives from me to me , the produc on was very muddy and not ideal but that ' s not too bad anyway . The other band on the split was a grind band of our city wich was very good but unfortunately didn ' t lasted much longer a er that and split up .
7 ‐ What does the cover of " CELESTIAL DERACINATED oligarchy "? , Is an impressive cover is a work by FEDERICO MUSETTI , what you think ? And who had the idea for this cover ?
The cover shows an intricated cosmical womb , with organic eggs and pulsing lights , in wich a number of biomechanical arms operates to build and dismantle the exis ng ma er ( Deracinated ) thus destroying the known order of things and building a new one ( Oligarchy ) in the form of a new sun and new planets ( Celes al ), all is done violently and without control ‐ from this concept came the artwork and the album ' s name .
8 ‐ Are now preparing new threads , am I right ? And when will be edited ?
If you mean new song sure ! We already have new songs to be refined and the process will go on next months , we hope to record the follow up next summer !
9 ‐ What is the way to wri ng material in the group ?
I usually come up with a set of riffs , then jamming with the drummer we find a definite structure and with the bass player we define be er the song playing it , then we work on details ( stops , harmonizings and stuff ) and in the end we add up vocals and solos .
10‐Tell us about the shows and fes vals , what is the expecta on of the DEATH FEAST ?, Yea bands have played ? And in what ci es ?
Death feast was a very good experience , it s always good to play in a different place you ve never been before , people liked us and stayed under the stage all the me even without knowing us . We also had the opportunity to play along great bands like Pros tute Disfigurement , Defeated Sanity and Wormed to say a few .. great stuff !!
11 Unbirth the CD is dedicated to his Vocalist " ANDREA " BABU " MALFATTO who died , tell us how was he in the group ?
ell first I have to say was a great friend of ours before our vocalist so it s not just a great loss for music , there s much more . Then he was well known and respected throughout the italian DM scene thanks to his passion and dedica on for this music . He was also a great vocalist and he did a great job with us ( and with his other bands Hobnailed and Discordance if you want to check them out ), but with us unfortunately he only
