Sandra is more reductive : “ I just want to show people the truly amazing creatures on our doorstep ,” she says . “ They ’ re amazing creatures and deserve to be shown off .”
Having spent a lot of time underwater in the UK , they ’ ve had some memorable experiences . Ryan recalls a dive in Chesil Cove , when a bottlenose dolphin with the telling nickname ‘ Randy ’ took a shine to
them , or more specifically to Sandra .
“ Most dives with Randy were eventful in some way but on our last dive he decided that enough was enough and I had to go ; I was too much competition for him . Randy swam to my fins , pivoting on his nose to the seabed to stop me swimming . As I stopped , he nudged Sandra away from me . I would swim towards them and he would stop me finning again . This happened about
four more times . It ended up with an adult bottlenose dolphin ’ s eye almost touching my mask with him vertical , maintaining eye contact with me . He looked at me as if to say ‘ stop this now ’.”
Sandra , meanwhile , has vivid memories of her first , magical dive on the wreck of the M2 . The shot had missed the wreck , it was getting dark and they were running low on planned bottom time ; but they finally found
