Classic Tasik
The trip from Tasik Ria to our first dive site took about an hour and a half , allowing us time to nap in the sun listening to the crew singing local songs and also to snack on delicious freshly made pisang goreng , which means ‘ fried bananas ’. Deep fried in batter , these mini , unsweet bananas go amazingly with a freshly made Dabu-Dabu chilli sauce - so good they are dangerous , but only for the waistline .
Tasik ’ s dive sites are all in Bunaken National Park . Established in 1991 , it spans 890 square kilometres and includes five islands - Bunaken , Manado Tua , Mantehage , Nain and Siladen . The diving is all on walls with some of these bottoming out at abyssal depths , although I ’ m not sure I ’ ve ever been beyond 25 metres myself . In fact , on this last
