BSAC’ s Pat Holliday reports on an action-packed day at the inaugural Scoob and Snork Fest

STUNTMAN, MOVIE DOUBLE AND NEWLY appointed BSAC snorkel ambassador, Andy Torbet dropped in on the first ever Scoob and Snork Fest event near Nottingham – with a skydive-to-scuba from 5,000ft.
Andy, together with his jump partner Ally Milne, turned heads skywards with a dual jump trailing smoke, before landing moments later, bang on target with a splash! While their parachute canopies settled gently into the water of west lake at Spring Lakes, onlookers cheered as the daring duo switched to scuba for a quick underwater swim and triumphant re-emergence.
This impressive stunt – billed as the first ever of its kind outside of a military setting – marked the start of a day of fun in and around the water. The event was organised by Mark Griffin, owner at Diverstime, a BSAC Centre based at Nottinghamshire’ s newest open water dive centre.
The vibe was of a summer party crossed with a large family get-together, set to upbeat tunes from the on-site DJ.
