UKDIVING TRAVELSPECIAL
The legendary hairy frogfish , a Lembeh superstar
The opportunities seemed endless , and Rick and I wanted to dive at every opportunity . We had booked to dive three times a day , but despite the jetlag , we were very easily persuaded to do a fourth dive , whether it be a mandarin dive [ specifically a dusk dive to view mating mandarinfish ], a blackwater dive [ a night dive over open water ] or a good old fashioned night dive .
We had four straight days of intense diving before the adrenaline wore off . We then decided that it would be nice to intersperse the evenings with the odd beer instead of always doing a fourth dive . I did get a taste for blackwater diving , though . In total , we did four blackwater dives and as luck would have it , it got better every time !
There are various ways to do blackwater diving , but at NAD Lembeh it ’ s done by dangling very bright lights off the side of
Backlit seahorse Peacock mantis shrimp
