and Lembeh didn ’ t disappoint . First dive , first minute , Nope ( our dive guide , sporting the best eyesight in the world ) spotted a Shaun the Sheep nudibranch for us . I was not ready for this . What happened to warming up , taking some easy shots to ease my way into the trip ? I had the first run at it , but I ’ d only just bought a basic magnifying dioptre and the miniscule size of the subject proved too challenging , so I let Rick have a go . I swam round for a few minutes to clear my head . By ‘ clear my head ’, I mean I had a rant underwater and then waited for a second attempt . Got the shot . Wow , welcome to Lembeh !
Biodiversity bonanza
I wondered if we had peaked on the first day of a two-week trip . There were frogfish , cuttlefish , nudibranchs , seahorses , pipefish and octopuses everywhere ! This was my first time diving in this environment and it was often the first time I ’ d seen any of these creatures , so I was taking photos of everything , as all of it was new and exciting . So much so , I had to delete all of my last year ’ s photos from my laptop in order to have the space to download all my shots ... and it was only day one ! My biggest concern was how I was going to fit a fortnight ’ s worth of photos onto my computer .
