More dive centres link with BSAC
FIVE DIVE CENTRES HAVE RECENTLY JOINED THE BSAC FAMILY , WHICH means the current year has seen a total 10 centres coming on board . Scuba Wales , Severntec Diving , Orca Scuba Diving Academy and Ocean Diving are all now BSAC centres that are also part of the BSAC Branch + Centre Partnership scheme .
Working to support BSAC clubs around the UK , the scheme aims to connect BSAC centres to branches in their area , adding extra resources to club training and supporting members to progress .
BSAC has been working hard to facilitate instructor crossover courses for the new centres , with Scuba Wales and Ocean Diving recently taking part at an event held at Vobster Quay . As a result , five newly crossed-over BSAC instructors can now teach the BSAC Diving Training Programme ( DTP ).
Ocean Diving ’ s co-owner , Kerrie Eade , who participated in the crossover event , said it was the ideal time for the Basingstoke-based centre and dive shop to become a BSAC Centre .
“ We have always had BSAC customers come through our doors , so it was a natural step for us to become a BSAC Centre . We all have the same aims and the same love of the underwater world , and so it was real privilege to be a part of this initiative .”
A total of 324 members have already benefited from the BSAC Centre + Partnership scheme since February this year . Mark Paisey , who is working on the BSAC Centre Development Plan , welcomed the new centres to the scheme . He said the additional centres would enable BSAC to support even more clubs and members .
“ With more centres joining we can provide a wider service to our membership . We can offer timely and flexible training , especially for members who just want to learn to dive and don ’ t want to join clubs .
“ And if clubs find themselves resource-challenged , then working with a local BSAC centre offers an option to provide prompt engagement with potential new members .”
