Holding onto a Hero

KitBrix Hero Bag
COMPANY: KITBRIX PRICE: £ 90 TEL: 0203 4881461 WEB: WWW. KITBRIX. COM

KitBrix is a name new to Test Centre and while their range of sports bags are not dive-specific, they do have many features which make them a natural fit for our world.

The KitBrix Hero is a compact 24cm x 24cm x 39cm, 20 litre capacity bag with a multitude of compartments to stash smaller items, leaving the larger main section free for larger pieces of kit.
Made from a very robust and waterproof TPU-laminated nylon and weighing only 1.3kg, the Hero has a lightweight‘ BaseBrix Technology’ underside. This reinforced, rigid waterproof base gives the bag its overall strength and protects the contents from rough treatment. The outer side of the bag has mesh pockets on the two longer sides and a strong plastic zipper, which allows access to the main compartment from above. When closed, the bag can be carried via its top-mounted handle or via the supplied, adjustable shoulder strap. Although it’ s not exactly a gear-gulper, its compact dimensions make it ideal for those things you might like to keep up close and personal on a RIB or hard boat day out.
It copes admirably with a change of clothes and a towel, while personal items such as a mobile phone, car keys and purse or wallet are easy to store in the inner zippered sections. Sandwiches and drinks could also be stored within, as could a small laptop or tablet if you feel the need to stay connected.
On my own RIB I used the Hero to transport the smaller of my DSLR housings and a couple of strobes with the smaller pockets utilised for various other photographic bits and bobs. This sat quite nicely on the top of my cylinder rack, well out of harm’ s way both to and from the dive site.
This bag is in its element when it comes to a trip to the beach for a swim or snorkel. It easily copes with a swimsuit and thin shorty wetsuit, mask and snorkel plus towel, you can stick your day clothes in the Hero while you’ re swimming and on return switch wet for dry.
Particularly interesting is its modular design, where two or more bags may be zipped together. A pair of Heroes will form a handy backpack / rucksack for easy transportation and make perfect carry-on luggage for air travel. NH
