Wetsuit Boot, Sock & Glove Drying Hanger

Test Centre isn’ t just all about the big ticket items – here’ s a trio of inexpensive but very practical products from Glasgow-based Lomo Watersports that are more pocket-money prices than bank account breakers.
First up is Lomo’ s Wetsuit Boot, Sock & Glove Drying Hanger. As it says on the tin it easily copes with everything as stated, plus your fins too. It’ s not just for wetsuits either, as I found my dry gloves and rock boots were equally at home as they hung out to dry after a good rinse.
Manufactured from sturdy plastic and with a rotating hook for convenient placement, it’ s ideal for use in the hut, garage or bathroom and lightweight enough to stick in a dive bag and take away on holiday. NH
In 30 years of diving I’ ve only ever been caught up in monofilament line once, coinciding with the one time I’ d neglected to strap on my knife. Luckily I managed to extricate myself without too much difficulty, but haven’ t made the same mistake twice.
Now I carry a knife and linecutter, but there’ s a school of thought that shears are a more effective response to both monofilament and rope. Lomo’ s stainless steel Diving Shears aren’ t much different in size to the average knife, but offer a twoin-one solution for cutting through tangle hazards.
Resembling a pair of garden secateurs, the shears feature a hard plastic spring-grip handle with a locking bar to keep them closed when not in use. They can be stored

Diver’ s Slate
COMPANY: LOMO PRICE: £ 4.90- £ 5.90 TEL: 0141 2217674 WEB: LOMO. CO. UK
Lomo offers two sizes of flat divers slates: medium( 153mm x 126mm) and large( 184mm x 149mm). Constructed from a strong, white plastic material with rounded corners, these rectangular slates are easy to store in a BCD or drysuit pocket, or alternatively affixed to a suitable D-ring via the sturdy plastic hook.
If you’ re an instructor, naturalist or just want to communicate with your buddy, then simply unhook the supplied pencil from
in a pocket or easily attached to a BCD via a lanyard. Flipping the lock exposes the serrated edge blades, which made short work of a selection of discarded line and thick rope. As I discovered, it took very little effort and a fraction of the time of a traditional diving knife to efficiently remove a stray rope which fouled my outboard’ s prop. There’ s also a line cutter on the outer edge of the shears, intended specifically for monofilament. Used in a sweeping movement, it’ s an effective way to cut through ghost net should you have the misfortune to discover any on your dive. NH
retainer to write your message on the wipe-clean double-sided surface. There’ s no need to worry about dropping the pencil either, as it’ s attached directly to the slate itself by a long length of stretchy, rubber piping. I also found it invaluable to map out dive sites and highlight interesting features to photograph on subsequent visits. NH
