BSAC’ s new snorkel fest – at Swanage
SWANAGE WAS THE LOCATION FOR BSAC’ s new Snorkelling Festival, which saw snorkellers of all ages and experience joining in the fun.
Held at the end of August, the festival provided a fun-filled day exploring one of the UK’ s favourite snorkelling destinations. The festival brought together 25 BSAC members from clubs including the University of Surrey, BSAC Direct, Woking Snorkel and Scuba, Portland & Weymouth and St Albans, as well as Jurassic Aqua Sports, a BSAC centre.
The day had something for everyone, including snorkelling for all experience levels, a family-friendly beach day and picnic and the chance to connect with the wider BSAC snorkelling community.
Snorkelling Festival Organiser and BSAC Chief Snorkel Instructor, Thomas Hawksworth said he was delighted by how the day went.
“ We were thrilled to welcome BSAC members to Swanage for a full day of snorkelling, coastal adventure and community spirit. The energy and enthusiasm from everyone involved made the festival a real success.”
The day also saw participants complete a marine life log sheet competition, with prizes awarded, including a copy of Snorkology’ s Snorkelling Britain book and a gift vouchers
donated by Jurassic Aqua Sports.
With the very first BSAC Snorkelling Festival such a success, the team are already looking ahead to next year.
“ We’ re hoping to run the festival again next year with even more to offer— potentially with a change of location and support from local centres to really enhance the day. It’ s definitely a case of watch this space,” Thomas added.
