AS A MEMBER , YOU NOT ONLY have access to the invaluable support and expertise within your own club , but also to the wider network of BSAC ’ s Regional Teams .
BSAC ’ s network is divided into 14 geographical regions in the UK ; each region has its own team , led by a Regional Coach , who is there to support its clubs and members .
From teaching SDCs and delivering regional instructor training events to mentoring and supporting individual clubs , these regional teams offer a wealth of skills , experience and knowledge . And they are here to help you .

BSAC Election cast your vote
THERE IS STILL TIME TO CAST YOUR VOTE IN THIS year ’ s BSAC election , which will see a new National Diving Officer elected to the Board . The closing date for voting in the BSAC Election 2024 is 10:00am on 27 April 2024 . As well as National Diving Officer , this year ’ s election will see two Council member posts becoming available , as well as the Honorary Treasurer candidate elected unopposed .
Cast your vote
All BSAC members who are eligible to vote have now been sent an email , which includes their online voting codes and links to the candidate CVs , which members should read before voting .
The closing date for voting is 27 April at10:00am , with the closing date for proxy voting 9 May at 10:00am .
If you have not yet received your voting email , please let BSAC know by emailing membership @ bsac . com and a replacement email will be sent out to you .
Members who have registered for a paper vote have also been sent their voting papers in the post .
The successful election candidates will take up their BSAC Council positions after the 70th BSAC AGM on Saturday , 11th May at 10:00am . Once again , this year ’ s AGM will be held online , and all members are invited to attend .
Details on how to pre-register to participate in the online AGM and pre-register any questions you may have for Council are on the BSAC Election 2024 website hosted by Civica , which can be accessed via the voting email sent by Civica on behalf of BSAC .
DIVERS HAVE DISCOVERED THE resting place of a long-lost German U-boat in the English Channel as well as the Royal Navy ship thought to have sunk it .
UC-18 , a Type UCII minelaying submarine , was lost in 1917 after a battle with a secret Royal Navy ‘ Q-ship ’, The Lady Olive , around 40 miles off the coast of Jersey . The Lady Olive – a heavily armed merchant decoy vessel – was also lost in what is the only known altercation in which a submarine and a Royal Navy ship sank each other in battle .

U-boat discovery doco to air in June
down with the loss of 28 crew , was discovered in 70m , more than 25 miles away from where historical reports placed the battle .
The team , led by underwater filmmaker Karl Taylor , worked with U-boat expert and marine archaeologist Tomas Termote to identify the submarine as UC-18 . During the search , they also found what is now believed to be the wreck site of The Lady Olive .
The French authorities have since closed the UC-18 ’ s location to divers as it is a designated war grave .
The resulting documentary film , The Hunt for Lady Olive and the German Submarine , will air on the BBC in June .
