MyBSAC app racks up 5,500 downloads

BSAC MEMBERS ARE TAKING advantage of the new MyBSAC app , with 5,500 downloading the service since its launch last October .
Available for free on both iOS and Android , the MyBSAC app has been designed to directly support members ’ diving and training , as well as their general BSAC membership experience .
With the downloads to-date going well , BSAC is keen for even more members to add the MyBSAC app to their smart devices . The club ’ s CEO , Mary Tetley , said she was delighted by the response so far .
“ This app should make being part of the BSAC family easy and accessible , while giving our members direct access to their essential member and training information , whenever they need it .
“ And with some more exciting features to be launched in future phases , the MyBSAC app is the ideal way to keep connected and engaged in your own BSAC diving or snorkelling .”
The MyBSAC app is the convenient way for members to have all their essential membership and training details at their fingertips , whenever and wherever they need it .
As well holding an individual ’ s key membership information , current diving or snorkelling qualifications as well as their latest medical status , members can also check when their membership is due and edit their personal details directly in the app .
Other key features provided by the MyBSAC app include :
■ Members can directly upload their photo to verify their qualification cards , meaning they will not need to pay for a replacement Qcard should they lose it
■ Options to book a training course or workshop from the latest BSAC Programme of Events via the app
■ Easy-view listing of all the elements of a member ’ s Qualification Record Book
■ Stay connected – with direct links from the app to the BSAC blog , news , and views
Chester SAC Treasurer Mart Holloway is one member who has already benefited from the app , calling it a ‘ brilliant one-stopshop ’ for information .
“ The access to my details and qualifications is great , but what ’ s really helpful is the instant access to BSAC events . It has also been useful for new members as they have found it simple and easy to understand .”
Future MyBSAC app updates will include eLearning and membership renewals , while there are also plans to include digitized versions of training records and facility for instructors to record progression and sign off qualifications . Further details on new updates to the MyBSAC app will be released in due course .

And if you are partway through a diver grade , BSAC HQ can also add the lessons you have completed so far to the app . Simply send email proof of completed lessons to qcards @ bsac . com and we will update your Qualification Records on MyBSAC for you .

More centres join the BSAC family

BSAC HAS WELCOMED ANOTHER RAFT of new centres as part of its ongoing recruitment drive .
Sheffield-based Diveworld , Plas Menai ( National Outdoor Centre for Wales ) and Andark Diving and Watersports are the latest to sign up to BSAC and deliver its training . More centres are also poised to crossover to BSAC , with Hebden Bridge-based Belowthesurface the next to come online .
BSAC ’ s Centre Development plan aims to almost double the number its centres by 2023 . The plan is also seeing a revitalisation of BSAC ’ s existing centres as several centres coming out of the pandemic are being inspired to renew .
Many BSAC centres are also signing up for the Branch + Centre Partnership , which sees
10 a centre linking up with clubs in their area to support their diver training . This partnership means BSAC clubs can be responsive to their members ’ individual training needs or get extra support for their existing instructors .
Alongside BSAC ’ s Branch + Centre Partnership scheme , both clubs and members can now benefit from the increase in BSAC ’ s centre numbers and the additional training and development opportunities they offer , in the UK and overseas .
BSAC Centres are also set to play a key role in the new Schools Partnership Scheme [ see Hub page 12 ].
BSAC ’ s Mark Paisey , who is working on the Centre Development Plan , said the recent growth in the number of centres highlighted an exciting time for BSAC .
“ 2021 was all about creating the network to provide the option of commercial training for our clubs and members . Clubs coming from lockdown and resource challenged need a support option while new members who want quick training need support options .
“ Looking forward , BSAC centres will play a key role in both supporting our clubs and the training of even more divers . We offer a warm welcome to all our new centres – it is great to have them onboard .”
