Two young divers at Bingham SAC, in Nottinghamshire, are passionate about giving others the opportunity to try out scuba diving and to give back to the club that has been so welcoming to them and their families.
Delilah is working towards her Sports Diver qualification and is nearly there. Skye is also an Ocean Diver and has focused on life support skills, including oxygen first aid. Both have completed the Automated External Defibrillator SDC. They work with their club’ s try dive team to get kit organised poolside and behind the scenes.
Delilah explains that she started out as a volunteer as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award activities and enjoyed it so much that she has carried on.“ The support I provide to the Equipment Officer includes getting people kitted-up for their pool dives,” she says.“ I also like testing the cylinders to see how much gas is left and then organising refills.”
“ I enjoy helping out; I feel I’ m playing an important role for the club and I enjoy doing it with my friend Skye; we have fun and get to know the other members.” Delilah says.
Skye explains their backroom kit role:“ Volunteering in the equipment room
