SCUBA returns to print
SCUBA MAGAZINE IS RETURNING TO A FULLY PRINTED FORMAT FOR 2022 , giving members access to the very best in BSAC news , member stories and diving journalism for the year ahead .
From this issue of SCUBA , 2022 will see 10 full colour printed issues of the magazine sent out to members .
The decision to return to a printed magazine comes after a year of alternate print and digital versions , which have ensured that SCUBA ’ s production could weather the immediate impact of the Covid-19 pandemic .
2022 will see 10 issues instead of the usual 12 . This is due to the production of SCUBA continuing to be impacted by the pandemic ’ s ongoing challenges , which has seen advertising revenue and diving activities , both in the UK and overseas , severely curtailed .
However , the decision to publish 10 issues in 2022 also reflects BSAC ’ s commitment to publishing a sustainable magazine that retains the highquality content its members have come to expect . BSAC CEO , Mary Tetley , welcomed the return to a printed SCUBA magazine . “ We know that our members have always enjoyed reading a printed version of their member magazine , and so the intention was always to return to a fully printed SCUBA as soon as it was possible .
“ With the 10 issues for 2022 , we will be able to continue with the excellent editorial and print quality SCUBA has become renowned for .”
The remaining nine SCUBA magazines will also include a merged July and August issue . The option to choose the magazine ’ s digital version – iSCUBA – remains . Members can opt-in for the digital-only version of SCUBA via their MyBSAC page on bsac . com or through the MyBSAC app .
Why websites work wonders
NEARLY 70 CLUBS ATTENDED THE ‘ WHY invest in a website for your BSAC club ?’ webinar on 23 November . With positive feedback after the session , nearly 90 clubs have signed up for the initiative to help clubs be more successful with their websites .
BSAC has long advised that quality websites are vital for clubs to thrive , but it ’ s not always easy for clubs to get their websites right . The platform developed with digital partner Kolodo Uniform has been created to take away the pain of clubs designing websites for themselves .
BSAC is subsidising the cost for the first 110 club websites . There are now around 20 websites left at the reduced price of £ 200 . So , for clubs wanting to have a better looking , easier to manage and more effective website , now could be a great time to get on board with this opportunity .
BSAC CEO Mary Tetley , who spoke at the webinar , said afterwards : “ Many clubs have moved forward with this and are already enjoying the results . It was great to hear from the Training Officer at Wycombe Sub-Aqua Club , Len Sumner , talk about his club ’ s experiences . The club has received 200 leads since it launched just a few months ago . Amazing ! This really is a great opportunity for clubs .”
