TRAVELSPECIAL
An Oasis dive skiff passes by a reef top
Make yourself at home
Bunaken Oasis has 12 large luxury villas with outdoor sun decks, all with sea views. These include a two‐bedroom family villa and an accessible villa. The multi‐level infinity pool at the heart of the resort is perfect for diver training. Operations Manager Kelly Moore says this was a happy accident due to the topography of the hillside where it sits.
The dive operation offers professional
training, high‐quality equipment and a dedicated, climate‐controlled camera room. There are no more than four guests to one dive guide, with the aim of tailoring the diving to the guests’ interests, improving safety for divers and most importantly protecting the reef. We had the same guide, Sandy, to ourselves for the whole trip although the spacious, traditional dive boat did occasionally have another guide with a group.
Guests can complete a full range of courses and there’ s a comprehensive technical diving operation. The rental kit is well‐maintained. Personal storage space is provided for divers who bring their own kit which will be washed, dried and returned to the boat.
The restaurant offers refined yet relaxed dining, overlooking the bay, with dishes made to order. Tours of the kitchen and cookery classes are available. There is also a spa.
