Open Water Instructor Course( OWIC)
ALREADY COMPLETED THE Instructor Foundation Course( IFC) and now ready to take the next step to becoming a qualified BSAC Instructor? Then the Open Water Instructor Course – also known as the OWIC – is the course for you!
The second level of BSAC dive instructor training, the OWIC equips Assistant Instructors with the skills needed to go from teaching in the pool to open water. Not only does it build on your practical instructing skills but the OWIC also gives you the chance to learn with other aspiring instructors from outside your BSAC club.
Held over one day, the OWIC develops your teaching skills in an open-water environment as well as extending your lesson planning. Once completed, you will be able to practise your open-water instructing within your club, under the supervision of an experienced instructor. Then, when you are ready, you can consolidate your knowledge and skills by completing the Practical Instructor Exam( PIE) and Theory Instructor Exam( TIE). Upon successful completion, you will then be a fullyqualified BSAC Open Water Instructor( OWI), ready to teach in your own club.
To be eligible for the OWIC, you must be at least 16, have already completed the IFC and be a qualified Dive Leader.
