Not just try – thrive
Overall
MID LANCS SUB AQUA CLUB RECENTLY had the privilege of collaborating with Andy’ s Man Club( AMC- Wigan branch) to welcome members for an afternoon of free try dive sessions. Mid Lancs’ Media Officer Nina Bennett reports.
“ The try dive event brought together individuals who are part of the Andy’ s Man Club, a remarkable organisation that works to break the stigma around men’ s mental health and suicide prevention by providing a non-judgemental and safe space for open conversations.
For many, it was their first time being kitted-up in scuba gear, and it was amazing to see the smiles, laughter and genuine excitement as they got to grips with something new. During the try dives, our instructors went over safety instructions and procedures, introduced them to basic skills in the pool and ensured a safe, fun and supportive experience was had by all.
, the day was a huge success, with all AMC members having an exceptional time trying something bold and new. To see these individuals not just try, but thrive, developing confidence under and out of the water was a great sight.
We’ re extremely proud to have been able to provide new experiences for members of such a worthwhile cause and allow them to explore depths even further than they imagined.
This is an initiative that Mid Lancs SAC will continue for many years to come, and it was an honour to share what we do with a group doing such important work for mental health.”
Launched back in 2017, MyBSAC is the portal through which members can manage their own BSAC membership. From checking renewal dates and updating personal information to accessing qualifications, the platform aims to directly support members’ training and diving / snorkelling. The new upgrade will take the MyBSAC experience to a whole new level.
Improved functions on the platform for 2025 will include digital membership and qualification cards, direct medical uploads, and evidence of other agency qualifications. Members will be able to manage recurring payments via the app as well as having access to a more streamlined management of their own membership, including joining or transferring to another club. The updated MyBSAC platform will also include changes to the BSAC Shop and eLearning.
For clubs, the management of their
members will also become easier, thanks to a raft of new features. These include registering new members and managing the club levy scheme, as well as an option to create a Stripe account for speedier direct debit collection. Another new feature for clubs will be‘ smart lists’, where Branch Officers can sort lists of members based on diver grade, membership status as well as the option to set up triggered emails for renewing members.
BSAC CEO Mary Tetley said the improved MyBSAC functionality was an exciting step forward for clubs and members.
“ The MyBSAC improvements to be implemented this year are all part of BSAC’ s commitment to maximising on our digital processes. And, by bringing all the essentials together, the new MyBSAC makes managing your membership a convenient and enjoyable experience.”
