CLUBFOCUS
How has Covid affected you ?
Covid restrictions have been more rigid in Wales than England at times , meaning that in 2020 we were limited to shore diving for some time and couldn ’ t use the boats until early August . Normally , we dive until the weather breaks at the start of November , but last year Wales had a second brief lockdown before a third full lockdown , which scuppered all diving from October to April . Only one or two couples could go diving at the start of this season , making it impractical for the club to resume even shore diving . A bonus has been that , because of the curtailing of national events due to Covid , our six nationally active ITS instructors have been more available to us than in other years .
Any particular frustrations ?
One thing was the lack of training we were able to carry out safely , due to the Covid restrictions on rescue breaths . Seeking advice from BSAC headquarters about in-water rescue dummies , our Secretary spoke to the Ceredigion Sports Council to see if we could put a bid together to purchase one . We found out in March that our bid to the Be Active Wales fund was successful and we bought one .
