This inexpensive stocking filler from Northern Diver is sure to light up any diver ’ s Christmas Day . Depth-rated to 100 metres , the compact , lightweight Fusion R ’ s curved body measures 160mm x 38mm and weighs in just under 200g .
Powered by an internal 5000Ah / 21700 Liion battery , the unit is completely sealed and charged via a magnetic port . A single slider switch sits atop of the body of the torch and pushing it once , twice or three times accesses a 2000 Lumen high power mode , 1000l half power and 300l low power modes .
An additional push powers down the unit . When in use , a glowing green LED indicates battery power and flashes when there ’ s less than 60 minutes of charge remaining . The single SST40 LED has a working lifespan of 100,000 hours , while the battery itself boasts an estimated lifespan of five years .
A full charge takes around four hours and unlike many a dive light which uses water to dissipate heat generated , the Fusion ’ s overheat protection circuitry allows it to be used topside too .
The torch ’ s narrow , 11-degree beam is perfect for exploring reefs and wrecks , while its wider , less intense halo provides useful illumination for the surrounding area . There ’ s also a clever safety feature in the shape of a flashing strobe concealed in the handle . A long push in any power mode will activate this and keep it running for up to 264 hours .

must on every gadget freak ’ s festive wish-list is the new Oceanic + Dive Housing . Building on their collaboration with Apple , this is a unique combination that allows an iPhone ’ s camera and Oceanic + app ’ s fullyfunctioning dive computer to be used simultaneously .
Constructed from impactresistant , techno-polymer material , the unit ’ s internal rechargeable battery is good for up to 100 hours of run time . Designed to accommodate various recent iPhone models , the unit uses a Bluetooth connection to access the phone ’ s camera , pairing it with the Oceanic + app .
Setting up the unit is practically fool proof . Once the phone is secured in place and paired , an animated process
takes the user through a series of step-by-step instructions .
Both an automated vacuum system and a leak detector are provided for peace of mind , and all functions are controlled by a keypad on the rear of the housing . Featuring a built-in ergonomic moulded handle , it ’ s also possible to add a tray , handles and lights using the ¼ inch thread situated on the base .
With the iPhone activated , the Oceanic + dive computer app ( using the same
Buhlmann ZHL-16 algorithm as the Watch Ultra ) is seen in overlay on the screen . This may be collapsed to show only the essentials while taking photographs or video .
Camera features support ultra-wide lens use , white balance point adjustment and an automatic colour correction algorithm . The setup is subject to the same subscription-based model of the Apple Ultra / Oceanic + link-up .
