WITH MORE THAN 80 ENTRIES AND THE CAMPAIGN REACHING more than 45,000 people online , BSAC ’ s # DiscoverUKdiving video competition winners have been announced .
Launched back in October , the competition aimed to celebrate everything we love about UK diving . Members were invited to submit a 15-second video to encapsulate what makes diving in UK waters so special .
The winner is Castlereagh SAC ’ s Austyn Finnegan , whose short video diving off the coast of Northern Ireland won the most votes in the online voting system . Austyn wins a Fourth Element Hydra Neoprene Drysuit worth £ 999 .
“ A couple of years ago through a friend , I heard that Castlereagh SAC was meeting at the local pool on Wednesday nights . I joined the session the following week and was hooked , and I signed up that night ,” said Austyn of his love of UK diving .
“ I ’ m so grateful for winning the # DiscoverUKdiving and thanks to everyone who voted for my video . I have never had a drysuit , so I am looking forward to trying it out !”
Earning second place with his video of his club , Swanwick and Spalding , is David Gwyer , who wins a Fourth Element Expedition Series Duffel Bag . Third place and a year ’ s BSAC membership goes to Tiverton SAC ’ s Tony Reed .
BSAC Marketing Manager , Debbie Powell , said the standard of entries had been impressive .
“ From exciting montages to incredible animal behaviour , creating an attention-grabbing video in the designated 15 seconds was certainly no easy task . But it ’ s been wonderful to watch all of the entries as they ’ ve come in .
“ Thanks once again to all who participated , to Fourth Element for providing the prizes and congratulations to our three winners !”
