Those kitting-up in the car park were entertained by some perfectly judged tunes courtesy of DJ Cosche , whose twin turntables pumped out music throughout the day . The evening saw a buffet meal , followed by presentations and certificates to clubs celebrating their own anniversaries this year .
“ It was a really positive event and I ’ d like to thank everyone who joined us to celebrate BSAC ’ s 70th ,” said CEO Mary Tetley . “ Many thanks to Stephen Dorricott for organising – we ’ ve had a lot of positive feedback from the participants . It was a great pleasure to see so many BSAC members getting together under the sun and enjoying a fine day of diving .” While celebrating BSAC ’ s big 70 , it was ultimately a northern event , attracting an estimated 150 divers . “ I spoke to dozens of clubs on the day , and the feedback was 100 per cent positive , “ Stephen Dorricott told SCUBA . “ The raffle raised £ 500 for the North West Air Ambulance , and Capernwray put on a great feast for the evening party .” Will there be another event next year ? The answer from Stephen is an emphatic ‘ yes ’. “ There are a few things we can improve with the parking , but overall , it all ran very well and the visiting clubs were eager to do it all again . We don ’ t want to lose momentum , so we ’ ll try and do it again in 2024 , then take it one year at a time .”
