BSAC Elections 2023

Your chance to help steer the club

THE COUNTDOWN TO THE BSAC Election 2023 has now started , with nominations invited for the BSAC Council posts that will become vacant at the next AGM .
The positions of Vice Chair and Honorary Secretary , as well as three ordinary Council member posts , are all up for election , with the successful candidates taking up their roles on BSAC Council at the 2023 AGM next May .
For members with the right skills and experience , the 2023 election could be the chance to help make a difference in the strategic growth of BSAC . The coming year will see some key developments as BSAC continues to deliver on its strategic mission to become the ‘ go to ’ community for anyone wanting to learn about , enjoy and protect the underwater world .
BSAC Chair Edward Haynes said he hoped that more members with diverse skills as well as a passion for scuba and snorkelling would put their names forward for the Election 2023 .
“ Participating as part of the BSAC Council team can be a hugely rewarding experience and offers the chance to bring your own skillset as well as a shared love of diving to the board .
“ With the exciting opportunities as well as challenges ahead for BSAC , we are now looking for candidates with the right mix of business leadership , skills and experience to join the team .”

Skills and Experience
BSAC Council would particularly welcome members who have board level or senior management experience in any of the following areas :
■ Charity or National Governing Body
( NGB ) governance
■ Brand development and marketing
■ PR , media , communications and reputation management
■ Sources of funding
■ Other diving training agencies
■ Implementing EDI ( Equality , Diversity and Inclusion ) strategies
■ International business development and partnering
Post-specific requirements
In addition to the role of ordinary Council members , there are additional skills and experience requirements for the post of Vice Chair and Honorary Secretary :
■ Vice Chair - must be able to deputise for the Chair as required and has additional responsibilities for : Council engagement with members and stakeholders ; leading agreed strands of strategic project governance .
■ Honorary Secretary - is responsible for governance effectiveness and administering the processes and policies underpinning Council business management . Candidates for the role should understand the essential aspects of administering committee and board business .

All nominees for the BSAC Election 2023 must be listed as a paid-up full BSAC member on the BSAC database at as 23:59 , 31 January 2023 . Members may only apply for one position .
Special Resolutions and Motions
Any Special Resolutions / Motions to be raised at BSAC ’ s AGM 2023 must also be submitted by 23:59 on 31 January 2023 . Special Resolutions / Motions to be raised at the AGM submitted by a branch committee must be accompanied by the relevant extract from the branch meeting minutes . At least four other voting members must second Special Resolutions / Motions submitted by a voting member .
