Everywhere around me was a sign from God drawing me back to Him. His compassion overwhelmed me. I had messed up. I had dropped the sword of truth and allowed lies to pinprick my heart … and yet He still revealed to me.
Yes, Lord, I surrender the desire to control Jason’s healing, my time, and this book. I give it all to you. If it is Your will, I ask Jason be strengthened and healed. I surrender my writing and speaking to you again, Lord. It is Yours, not mine. In Your choosing of time, I will obediently write the book you orchestrated for me.
Poems, not the book, flowed out of me. My new identity in Christ had to process how quickly and easily I was forgiven, how much I was loved by my Heavenly father.
In reading devotions with my husband in January, Holy Spirit peeled these words off the page and hung them right in front of my eyes to see:
If a grey day is not one of thankfulness, the lesson has to be repeated until it is. Not for everyone is it so. But only to those who ask to serve Me well, and to do much for me. A great work requires a great and a careful training. (God Calling, edited by A.J. Russell)
Through the love and grace of God, He has opened my eyes to see how every season of our lives is the season to surrender. To abide is to surrender.
The more I turn over to Him …
The more I lean in close enough to smell his holiness …
He will bless me as His child …
He is a good, good Father.
