and coax a little bud of life to grow at just the right time.

What words do you write on another’s heart? A stranger? Your neighbor? A friend? A parent? Your spouse? Your child? Are those words positive or negative? Abusive or complimentary?

Broken and discouraged lives need encouragement, reinforcement, kindness, love. And we never know who is hurting. Maybe someone is grieving from a broken marriage, the loss of a parent, or a severed friendship. Maybe they have a rebellious teenager. Maybe a loved one suffers an incurable disease. No matter the situations, speak life into others. Use encouraging, positive, and eternal seed-words.

Words do not always need to be spoken. Writing a few words in the front of a book you give to someone or sending a special note or card may bless them more than your spoken words.

Maybe the book gets saved and savored throughout the years. The corners get bent and the edges fray. The pages turn yellow. Or maybe it sits neglected on the shelf for years and then is rediscovered at just the right time. Those few words are indelibly written on a precious heart.

Or sometimes, hearts may be closed. It may not be the right time for them to receive the words you speak to them. They may not want to hear your words of life, but speak grace and life anyway.

You may never know the result of your words, especially if accompanied with God’s Word. But the Lord watches over those words, for He said, “I will watch over My word to perform it.” (Jer. 1:12 Masoretic Text)

What are you tattooing upon the precious heart of another?

What is the return on the deposit of your words?
