So how does sponsorship help out the kids of Rwanda? Let me share the story about one of the Munson's sons. Let's go back to the time of the of the genocide when Athanase was a little boy. He is the only one in his family that survived. This left him as a street kid growing up on the streets, getting into gangs, and drugs. He was soon known as Rusta a feared gang member. He started attending a street ministry that were feeding the street kids. Some stopped going because he was there. The street ministry didn't kick him out. Eventually, the message of God's love clicked in Athanase brain and one day he walked up to the leader and laid down his machete, drugs, and walked away from that life. He did have someone come after him and tried to kill him for leaving the gang.

On one of their trips to Rwanda the there was a bad storm. Suzette had run out to get the people into where they were at for shelter. Athanase saw her going out and grabbed her from behind to protect her from being hit by anything that the wind might blow around. It was a couple days later that they ran into each other and got connected. Dave and Suzette have sponsored him. He has gone from being an orphan living on the streets, feared gang member, to a respectable young man with a family that loves him and growing. He is going to school to be a driver.
