This is a adelie penguin jumping in the sea
S plash! A penguin jumps into the water. Gulp,
the penguin eats a fish. Look there’s another
emperor penguin over there, but there’s a seal
chasing him. Quickly he jumps out of the water
away from the seal’s sharp teeth. Other
penguins besides emperor penguins are scared
of seals too and can hopefully get away while
they might be looking for food to survive. In his
article you will learn about different types of
penguins and how they survive.
Types of penguins and
Their Features
Different types of penguins have different and
cool features, but they still have things in
common. All penguins can’t fly, but are amazing
and fast swimmers. Their short thick feathers
help them while their swimming by being
strong and though. Their backs are usually
black, or, bluish-gray and their stomachs are
usually white.
After a swim penguins usually go back to their
colony, which can have up to 2.5 million
penguins. To tell what types of penguins are in
the colony, people look at the markings on their
heads, their different neck and body shapes and
sizes. Also people split penguins into two
groups warm-climate and cold-climate. Warm-
climate penguins don’t have as much body fat
as cold-climate penguins, that’s how people tell
the difference between them.
Speaking of warm and cold climate penguins,
emperor penguins are cold-climate penguins
and little blue penguins are warm-climate
penguins. Little blue penguins have many
