Elphaba goes to Shiz University with Nessa to take care of her . Shiz is where she meets Glinda . At Shiz , Elphaba is selected by her sorcery teacher , Madam Morrible , to perform her sorcery talents for the Wizard of Oz , because she has a talent for it . Elphaba is a witch . Elphaba sings “ For Good ” with Glinda . That ’ s when each claims the other has changed her “ For Good ”. She also sings Defying Gravity where she expresses her goals , to try to fix the wrong and make it right .

Glinda is the other main character in “ Wicked ”. She was originally played by Kristin Chenoweth . Glinda was born in Frottica , Upper Uplands of Northwest Gillikin . She also used to be known as Glinda of the Arduennas of the Uplands . That was until Galinda ( Glinda ’ s old name ) became known as “ Glinda ” because of respect to Dr . Dillamond , who couldn ’ t pronounce her name correctly , and to impress Fiyero , her crush . Glinda ’ s mother is Larena Upland . Her father is Highmaster Arduenna . Fiyero actually liked Elphaba , not Glinda , so Glinda ’ s ex-boyfriend is Fiyero . Glinda is a Gillikenese ( a type of religion ) girl whose hair color is strawberry blonde .
