The Unbelievable Universe Carter Dyke The Milky Way Do you know what happens in space? Well, a lot of things happen in space. Most things happen all the sudden, or it's been there still for billions of years! In space there’s planets, solar systems, and galaxies. This article will talk about 3 things, atmospheres, ejections in space, and planets with moons.” Ejections in Space In space there are millions of planets, stars, solar systems, galaxies, and more, but the most common is ejections. Ejections are things like comets, meteors, and asteroids. Some ejections are comets, comets are balls of ice that fly through space. One famous comet is called the Halley’s Comet. It is famous because it is a comet that comes around every 30 to 40 years. It has also been a comet for at least 2,000 years! Comets are very strange, sometimes a comet will create two tails! In 1997, there was a comet named, Comet HaleBopp, it had created two tails and was recorded by a space center. A comet's tail can be up to one million miles long! Some other ejection forms are asteroids. Asteroids are big pieces of rock that got close to a planet and passed by at really fast speeds, or hit the planet. One famous asteroid hit Greenland 10,000 years ago and weighs 34 tons. A group of asteroids long ago formed a ring of asteroids around the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Earth, and Earth's moon. It’s called the Asteroid Belt. Some scientist say that Mars's moons, Phobos, and Deimos, because of their size, may have been asteroids from the Asteroid Belt. – 57 –
