Population

The majority of the population of Romania is, as one would guess, Romanian. However, there are minority populations too, spread in different regions of the country.

In Transilvania especially, there is an important Hungarian minority, and in parts of the region, there are German-Saxons (Sibiu, Brasov, Timisoara), Slovakians (Bihor), Serbians (Timisoara), and Ukrainians (Maramures).

Also, in Dobrogea (South-East Romania, close to the Black Sea), there is an important Turkish minority, while the Rroma minority is spread throughout the country.

Romanians are very tolerant towards minorities. The

minority populations in Romania have a lot of rights and are very well treated. Although the only official language of the country is Romanian, you can very often see bilingual signs in many parts of the country, depending on the minority that lives there. Also, they can study in their own language

and they often organize public events in their language.
