Prices

The prices in Romania are under the European price average.

In bars and pubs one beer or one Coca-Cola is between 5 lei and 7 lei, and a cocktail is usually between 15-20 lei. A meal with 2 or 3 courses is about 15-25 lei. This prices may differ a bit from town to town as they are a bit higher in Bucharest and in touristic places than in smaller cities.

Tipping in restaurants

As one can notice the prices are rather low and, in addition, tips are not added on the restaurant bills. This is why Romanians usually leave tips, and waiters will expect you to do so. A tip of 10% of

the amount is usually enough, but you can leave more or less, according to the service as well.

Tipping taxi drivers is also usual in Bucharest, but it is totally uncommon in the rest of the cities, unless the amount is lower than 1 leu.
