Market Report
Mark Dennis
Have you made any changes in your Marketing program since last N / L, I have a New Brochure for the asking it was surprising how little it cost, you may want to put one together, If I can help contact me, been talking with members who want a web site,( must have to be successful in
Katahdin Marketing), a few are working at this time getting pictures together, a friend had SCKA do a website for him three years ago, sold all his sheep for two years in a row, this year he over looked payment due for web site, it was deleted, has not received one call this Spring, has not sold any lambs from 2013 lamb crop, he is now a believer in a web site, Marketing is harder than lambing out your flock, a breeder called me she too has not been receiving any calls for lambs this year, she is up dating all her web site pictures to show 2013 born lambs, keep your pictures current,
I attended the Midwest Stud Ram Sale in MO. Katahdin sale order show was Monday, Sale day was Wednesday, If you are entering Katahdins in Sales do some Marketing before arriving and at the sale, gave out lots of cards, have a brochure, and pictures of your breeding stock and Ranch, available on your table near your Katahdins, notice not in front of your pen that space is for folks to come and view your sheep and visit with you, I have seen pens with a nice big banner in front of the pen, folks walking by can’ t see your sheep if they are laying down, the most importation Marketing tool in my opinion is performance records posted with Registrations & DNA test results, not one breeder in the MO Sale had performance info available that I saw, to be successful you must do some Marketing or take them to the Sale Barn.
Let us at SCKA help you review or suggest ways to assist in Marketing your Katahdins, I trust you got your new up to date Ad in this N / L, if so it will be posted on SCKA World Wide Web site.
I Thank Ewe again, those folks who have done so much over pass years to move SCKA to the status it has today, these are some of the dedicated, John Cannon Past President, Roxanne Newton Past Vice President, Mickey Burris Past Treasure, Dan Drinkard Past Board Member, and don’ t forget our Friend Desie Duhon who put the N / L together, we all appreciate the time and work you gave us. See you in Cookeville, TN. This is going to be a Great KHSI Expo.
