Every year, there are thousands of
people coming in from other states and
districts to work here, which explains
the well-known saying in tamil, which
can be translated to ‘Home to all’.
Madras is not just a city to me, it is
beyond that. It is a home, a heaven and
more. Sure, it is hot sometimes (I mean,
we only have one season and that is
summer), and you must deal with traffic.
But it in all fairness, the pros outnumber
the cons. I have been fortunate enough
to travel to places where the weather is a
little better and there is not much traffic.
Madras is very generous and always
ready to lend a helping hand. The
people here are so appreciative that they
preserved the elegant buildings built by
the men who ruled them for over two
hundred years.
Yet, nothing has felt better than coming
back ‘home’. To conclude, I can go on
and on writing about how great my city
is, but then this passage will be never
ending. I hope I have done justice to
everything that makes the city what it is.
Madras or Chennai, I love my city.
How can I not talk about CSK when
talking about Madras? Yes, Chepauk
may not be the ideal hangout or tourist
spot.
P.S: If you don’t like Chennai for some
reason, I don’t think we could be friends.
Just Kidding! That is the Madrasi in me
talking.
But during the IPL season, the entire
place is covered in yellow. Echoes of
fans screaming ‘CSK’ and ‘Dhoni’ that
continue to resonate till the end of the
season.
Personally, this is my favourite time of
the year to be in Chennai. If you are
reading this and not a fan of CSK or
IPL or Cricket in general, I am sorry.
But this part is for the people who can
relate with me. But if you are into
football, then “GO Chennaiyin FC!”
(What can I say, I love sports!).
