The four cycles of matter are water, nutrient, carbon, and nitrogen cycles. The water cycle is where water moves between the ocean, atmosphere, and land. Water is cycled as water vapor that enters the atmosphere when its evaporated from the ocean or another body of water. Then the water vapor condenses to form clouds and the water returns to earth as rain, snow, or hail. Then the rain goes into the soil and becomes ground water and the water in the soil enters plants through roots and the water cycle begins again.

The nutrient cycle is where nutrients pass between organisms and the environment. The next one is the carbon cycle which is a biological processes. The biological processes uses photosynthesis and respiration. The process takes up and releases carbon and oxygen. The next cycle is the nitrogen cycle which is used to build proteins. First the nitrogen gas turns into ammonia which is in soil. Next its used as protein which is everything. Those are the four cycles of matter and how they work.
